My first beehive. It's made of lumber salvaged from the old house on our farm.
Overall, it was a beautiful day. I spent it working on potting up all my native seedlings and moving more of the tropical plants outdoors for the summer.
I am a plant freak; I love learning about them, growing them...and just watching them grow (it's true, I'm easily entertained). Although my first career was in the graphic design industry, my college education included study in plant sciences and ecology. It was through those studies that I developed this passion for the outdoors and plants. Gardening and farming give a purpose to my time outside and allow enjoying the natural world to be a part of my job. This blog is a place to document my adventures alongside my husband Brent on our 10 acres in Tonganoxie, KS. And it is a chronicle of our transition from Johnson County, a suburb of Kansas City, to our new life on a farm in rural Kansas.
